Inquiry about 4 locations in Jerusalem
Hello,
My name is Olivier Wright., I'm writing to you from France to ask you about 4 locations that appear in my film project, because I'm not sure what their status is with regards to copyright and permission to show them.
First, let me quickly present the project to you: three years ago, while studying philosophy at university, I began working on a passion project that has since steadily grown into a film called Ψ (or “psi”). The film asks the following question: Are we free to be who we want to be, given the nature of the physical universe?

In the film, we meet five alternate versions of the same character, having all branched out through their decisions from a common past and now each leading a different life: there’s a diplomat in Jerusalem, a bartender in London, a filmmaker in Paris, a lawyer in Helsinki and a resident of a homeless shelter in Los Angeles. Throughout the film, leading philosophers and scientists such as Max Tegmark (MIT) and Barry Schwartz (Berkeley) reflect on choice and free will as the audience discovers beautiful works of art and architecture from the five cities. |

I made this film as a passion project on my own money. Now that the film could be of interest to cultural and educational events, I have been contacting the artists to ask for permission to show the film in the two following settings only:
So far, the artists/copyright organizations I have reached out to have been willing to grant me this restricted permission.
However, in Jerusalem there are four sites for which I'm not sure who to contact and so I was hoping you could help me clear this out. Below is the list of 4 locations and a video excerpt from the film with these locations. Some of them may be in the public domain and not require any particular clearance, I'm not sure. In any case, I would happily include the City of Jerusalem logo in the film's credits.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards,
Olivier Wright

The Western Wall / KotelThe Western Wall or Kotel is part of another important leitmotif in the film: walls, that represent difficult decisions that one has to go through. In this scene, we go on to see other sculptures that depict human figures actually going through a wall: Sir Antony Gormley's "Reflection" in London, then Terry Allen's "Corporate Head" in Los Angeles, and finally Jean Marais' "Le Passe Muraille" in Paris.
