Hello Brit,
Thank you for taking a look at my project, Ψ (psi). My name is Olivier, I'm 30, from France. This is my first film, I have been working on it for 4 years and I'd like to show you here why you would be the final piece of the puzzle.
Ψ tells the story of Natalie (34), a psychologist who is trying to help one of her patients, Olivier (27), who was so torn about what to do in life that he chose nothing. Having failed in all her attempts, Natalie tries something never done before: she journeys across dimensions to meet 5 alternate versions of her patient to show him who he could be now. She finds a bartender in London, a filmmaker in Paris, a UN worker in Jerusalem, a lawyer in Helsinki and a resident of a homeless shelter in Los Angeles. In each case, Natalie tries to understand: How much did he control his destiny? What choices did he make and why? What are his regrets? Is he happy? But in doing so, she has to face her own personal conflict: why did she become a psychologist and give up on her dream of becoming an actress?
We never see Natalie in the film, but we hear her voice as she talks with the various versions and reflects on her own life and place in the universe. Throughout the film, nine real-world philosophers and scientists, including Max Tegmark (MIT), Daniel Dennett (Tufts) and Barry Schwartz (Berkeley) provide insights on the subject of freedom, choice and regret as the audience explores beautiful works of art and architecture across the 5 cities (from Alexander Calder, Anish Kapoor, Eila Hiltunen, and others). Overall, the film is like "Tree of Life" meets "Mr. Nobody" meets "Samsara."

Why you?
Because Natalie Forester, the psychologist guiding the film, wouldn't actually be called Natalie Forester, but Brit Marling, because it would actually be… you. An alternate version of you, the Brit Marling you could be today if you hadn't explored acting, had still gone to Georgetown only to study psychology instead of economics, and were now wondering why you never pursued your passion.
Because Natalie Forester, the psychologist guiding the film, wouldn't actually be called Natalie Forester, but Brit Marling, because it would actually be… you. An alternate version of you, the Brit Marling you could be today if you hadn't explored acting, had still gone to Georgetown only to study psychology instead of economics, and were now wondering why you never pursued your passion.
What can I offer?
This is a project I originally started in a bid to understand why my whole life I had pursued other avenues than the one I was truly passionate about and try to force my life back on track. So far I've managed to DIY this film from outside the industry, with the help of friends and family, knocking on doors and sending a lot of e-mails. If this get's to you, it's because I found your agent's e-mail and that in turn your agent forwarded you this link.
This project has overall cost me approx. $20.000. So the amount of money I could personally offer you would not compare to what you can normally expect. But if you like the project and were willing to agree in principle, I would then be able to find investors to pay your fee.
Also, I believe you produce films too. I have written two feature screenplays which I intend to put together following the release of Ψ, so if you were interested in my work, you’d have first look at it.
How would this go?
The recording could be done in a short amount of time, whenever/wherever is convenient for you. Your input and suggestions on the film and script would be welcome. And the extent of your subsequent involvement would be entirely up to you.

For now I'll leave you with this: Ψ is the symbol for the wave function in quantum mechanics, representing the probabilities for the different possible outcomes to a situation. When the wave function collapses, only one of the possibilities becomes reality. Four years ago, the odds of my project ever reaching this point were slim, but I hope that at the end of the day, the wave function collapses in my favor and that you'll agree to be a part of it.
